Abstract

The new technique of accelerator mass spectrometry was successfully applied to measure the 26Mg(p, n)26 Alg (7.2 × 105 yr) cross section for proton energies Ep = 5.2−6.9 MeV. This cross section thar threshold is of astrophysical interest because of the recently observed 26Mg excess in meteoritic material and its bearing on the early solar system.
