Abstract

Maturity of PLC based control software is the basis for flexible and adaptable automated Production Systems (aPS). Analyzing results from three self-assessment questionnaires and additional expert interviews on software maturity in aPS, this paper proves that there are typical maturity values and variations within the same company or within a specific industrial sector for selected companies. Additionally, this paper shows the large gap between the state of the art in research and the status in industry concerning MDE, OO and variant design.
