Abstract

In a previous project a permanent magnet synchronous motor (BLDC) without damping winding was being constructed for the application in an x-ray microscope. When tested, above a certain speed level, the drive system started oscillating and finally lost its synchronism. Therefore a mathematical analysis of the system equations of the BLDC drive was carried out in order to identify the mechanism and criteria of stability within the system. The eigenvalues of the non-linear system of differential equations were computed in dependence of several parameters. The influences of drive speed, winding resistance and inductances on the stability behavior of the drive were investigated.
