Abstract
The results of a Delphi study conducted with a panel of experts for requirements analysis of a Mars Sample Return (MSR) campaign are discussed. The study aims to provide a synthesis of the rationale standing behind requirements of the architecture of the mission. It has explored the trade space of possible requirements for the campaign, first considering science value associated with different sets of MSR requirements, while assessing the engineering complexity associated with the implementation of the requirement. This pilot study is part of a broader systems architecture study of MSR that has been formulated using a Delphi-based Systems Architecting Framework (DB-SAF), which has been proposed as a comprehensive approach for systems architecture under ambiguous stakeholder objectives.
