Abstract

Low-field, low-temperature (60 mK < T < 2 K) dc magnetic susceptibility measurements on a series of Ce(Cu1-xAgx)6 compounds with x ≤ 0.20 and specific heat measurement down to 40 mK for x = 0.10 reveal an antiferromagnetically ordered ground state for x ≤ 0.10 which tends toward ferri-/ferromagnetic order with increasing x. Present results show that ∼ 1.3 at.% of Ag substitution can drive magnetic order in CeCu6. The relevance of these results to the properties of CeCu6 is discussed.
