Abstract
The reduction of NOx emissions continues to be one of the primary objectives in the development of new combustion systems for natural gas. The methods customary up to now have essentially aimed at achieving the most complete possible combustion at the lowest possible temperature level, since thermal formation of the oxides of nitrogen predominates in the case of natural gas. Disadvantages specific to particular processes were unavoidable in this context, however. This article discusses a burner concept which makes it possible to retain the advantages of the femiliar modes of combustion but to eliminate their disadvantages by means of process combination.
