Abstract
The Mössbauer effect of the second excited state of the K=1/2 rotational band in Yb171 at 75.9 keV with I=5/2 was studied to determine its magnetic moment μ=(1.01±0.01)nm. This value agrees well with the one predicted by the previously determined magnetic parameters of the K=1/2 rotational band, confirming the adiabatic separation of intrinsic and rotational wave functions.
