Abstract

A novel design of a compact antenna array for MIMO (multiple input multiple output) communication systems is introduced for mobile applications, which require in particular a low profile of the antennas. The proposed antenna array can be integrated at the contour of mobile terminals. The antenna array operates in two frequency bands around 2.45 GHz and 5.5 GHz, corresponding to the WLAN (wireless local area network) applications. By utilizing multiple resonance structures, the operation bandwidth is enhanced. Good MIMO performance is achieved by implementing appropriate decoupling strategies. The proposed antenna array is manufactured and measured.
