N2 - An electric vehicle (EV) energy management system concept is proposed in this work. Its goal is to prevent power outage in residences and delivery/receive energy to/from the utility grid, in case of local grid disturbances. Unlike the vehicle-to-home (V2H) systems known in the literature, the power system does not require structural changes in a typical home EV battery charging system. Such system is typically implemented using unidirectional power converters, which are less bulky, more reliable and lower-cost than bidirectional power converters and this proposal intends to take advantage of this configuration. It does so by using a combo-like electrical connector, typically available in EV systems. To validate the system concept numerical simulations are presented and an experimental setup is being prepared.
