Long-wavelength VCSELs

Abstract

A study on long-wavelength vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSEL) was presented. Advantages of VCSELs include low threshold and small power consumption, circular beam with small divergence, and high slope efficiency. Applications of VCSEL in optical communication, spectroscopy and gas sensing were discussed. Single-mode operation, dynamic behavior and wavelength tuning of long wavelength VCSELs was also studied.
