Abstract

Favourable work planning keeps employees fit. One of the most sensitive topics within companies is the optimisation of personnel planning and management. In this context, dealing with so called "employees with diminished performance" is a topic that should not be neglected. Alongside those people with disabilities that are inborn or the result of accidents, the group of older workers whose performance is diminished as a result of health-related damage is increasingly growing in significance. One cause of this is demographic change. Falling birth rates and increasing life expectancy are leading to a proportionate rise in the number of older people in the population. This development is reflected inside companies - for every young person there are more and more older employees. As a result in future it will not be enough simply to take measures to integrate older workers of diminished performance. The aim must be to prevent health-related impediments resulting from "industrial illnesses" from the outset.
