Abstract
The currently available, generally accessible basic data for designing and testing tractor transmissions for serviceability are relatively inadequate. To improve this situation, the author proposes new total load histories, which have been normalized with general tractor data for the transmission inlet and driving wheel sides, together with a distribution of travel speeds for calculating the gear switching times. All three data histories refer to time periods and are based on intensive literature studies (111 sources), recalculations of transmissions already designed, in-house measurements, and other considerations.
