Abstract

The paper describes a laser-interferometry measurement system where a two frequency laser is used for length and velocity measurements. This digital measuring system, which is suitable both for the analysis of oscillations and of transient processes is above all designed to be used for the investigation of the dynamic behavior of machine tools. This contribution describes potential measuring errors and the special features of the system that is characterized by a maximum scanning frequency of 4. 1 kHz. Two examples of application show the potential of the measuring system and of the available evaluation units.
