Abstract

Today three axis large panel transfer presses for production of large sheet metal parts offer the industry a production system with decisive economic advantages in comparison to press lines. The higher net output and the higher flexibility of such systems allow small lot sizes to be produced efficiently so that storage of sheet metal parts and the capital bound in this manner can be reduced considerably. The use of micro-processor-controlled hydraulic drawing cushions offers for the first time the technical prerequisites for achieving drawing results with equivalent quality to conventional double-acting presses on single-acting large panel transfer presses.
