Abstract

We summarize the theoretical virtues of the rare K → πνν decays and emphasize the unique role of KL → π0νν in probing the nature of physics beyond the Standard Model, in particular concerning possible new sources of CP violation and flavor-symmetry breaking. A brief summary of the prospects for the measurement of the KL →π0νν rate is also given.
