Abstract
Tricarbonyl(η-pentabromocyclopentadienyl)manganese (IIIa), tricarbonyl-(η-tetrabromoiodocyclopentadienyl)manganese (IIIb), and tricarbonyl[η-(1,2,3-triiodo)cyclopentadienyl]manganese (IIIc) are synthesized by the reaction of the pentacarbonylmanganese halides Mn(CO)5X (Ia, b) (X = Br, I) with the halogenated diazocyclopentadiene derivatives IIa and IIb, with yields ≥70%. In the same way, tricarbonyl(η-tetrachloroiodocyclopentadienyl)manganese (IIId) is formed from tetrachlorodiazocyclopentadiene. The new halogen cymantrenes are yellow, air-stable compounds which are slightly sensitive to light, and can be sublimed in high vacuo without decomposition.
