Abstract
Carotid artery stenting (CAS) is nowadays well-established in daily clinical routine. In patients with «normal» risk for carotid endarterectomy (CEA) it constitutes an interesting alternative to operation, in patients with high to very high risk stenting appears to be superior. The ongoing registries and particularly the prospective randomized trials will define the role of CAS more precisely.
