Abstract
Carotid artery stenting (CAS) is nowadays well-established in daily clinical routine. In patients with 'normal' risk for carotid endarterectomy (CEA) it constitutes an interesting alternative to operation, in high risk patients for CEA stenting appears to be superior. The present review focuses on the clinical impact of CAS with respect to elderly high risk patients.
