Abstract
The rate of caesarean section is rising since several years. Elective c-section is almost as safe as spontaneous delivery regarding perinatal outcome and is therefore a possible alternative, although maternal morbidity and mortality is slightly increased. However, the risks of caesarean sections for the newborn are not clear, especially long term effects. Therefore, we discuss risks and effects of c-section concerning the newborn in this article.
