Abstract
The generation of powerful, bandwidth-limited pulses by Kerr lens modelocking of a KTP-OPO is demonstrated, synchronously pumped by a ps-pulse train of a Nd:YLF laser. Inserting the Kerr medium and a suitable aperture into the cavity the parametric output is shortened by a factor of {reversed tilde equals} 2 to a pulse duration of 460 ± 50 fs with improved reproducibility and 55 nJ single pulse energy; the spectral width is simultaneously increased to 29 ± 3 cm-1.
