Abstract

A comprehensive investigation of the relationship between magnetism and superconductivity in the iron-based superconductors, discovered in 2008 by Hideo Hosono and collaborators Kamihara et al. J. Am. Chem. Soc. 130:3296, 2008, [30], yielded significant advances in our understanding of the magnetic ground states in these compounds and interaction with superconductivity. It is believed that the same magnetic interactions that drive the magnetic ordering also produce the Cooper-pairing Hirschfeld et al. Rep. Prog. Phys. 74:124508, 2011, [29].
