Abstract

This article explains the basics and innovations of the IT baseline protection of the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), which has been updated in recent years and was officially published on February 1, 2018. It demonstrates the relevance of IT baseline protection for both the law and the legal professions. It also explains when IT-Grundschutz is relevant in legal matters. Furthermore, the article also addresses the other dimensions of IT baseline protection for day-to-day legal work. The article therefore aims to explain how lawyers can quickly and easily find out about the state of the art in IT security. It also explains how new technological trends - the Internet of Things or artificial intelligence - are dealt with in the context of IT baseline protection.
