Abstract

Based on an IR study of the adsorption and reaction of methanol and dimethyl ether over alkali metal cation exchanged zeolites, a reaction mechanism for the decomposition of methanol over alkali cation exchanged zeolites is presented. Formaldehyde adsorption is conducted on these molecular sieves and attempts will be performed to correlate its adsorption structure with the surface reactivity. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the 13th International Zeolite Conference (Montpellier, France 7/8-13/2016).
