Abstract

There is an increasing interest in using remote sensing techniques for vegetation damage assessment. Nevertheless, it has also become clear that the comprehensive use of digital data still needs more information on the reflection characteristics of trees with regard to the influence of external parameters due to natural surroundings (eg sun inclination, background). Two of the main stress symptoms of diseased trees are water stress and defoliation. To examine the influence of these two symptoms on the reflection characteristics, detailed signature analyses in the field and in the laboratory were carried out. -from Authors
