Abstract

The normal level of intermittency of turbulence was investigated by applying a wavelet analysis to a full set of transport fluctuation data. It was observed that critical gradients lead to avalanche-type transport events and to a intermittent nature of radial transport. The transport fluctuations of the toroidal magnetized plasmas exhibited a substantial amount of intermittency. The result shows that in fusion plasmas a substantial fraction of the bursty nature of turbulent transport was not related to avalanches caused by critical gradients.
