Abstract

A comprehensive experimental research program on a generic delta wing configuration is conducted as part of the "International Vortex Flow Experiment 2" (VFE-2). The aim of the present study is to set up a validated data base for test of modern CFD codes focusing on methods such as URANS (Unsteady Reynolds Averaged Navier- Stokes) and DES (Detached Eddy Simulation). Flow types of partly developed (α = 13°), fully developed (α = 18°) and burst leading-edge vortices (α = 23° and α = 28°) are investigated for vortices shed at both sharp and rounded leading edges.
