Abstract

This paper presents a mathematical projection model for focused plenoptic cameras. The model defines the projection from object space to the virtual image space inside the plenoptic camera. We estimate the camera model by performing bundle adjustment based on a 3D calibration target. In this article we investigate different depth distortion models as well as the influence of a sensor tilted with respect to the main lens. We evaluate what depth accuracies can be achieved based on the presented models.
