Inverters for Power Systems with Renewable Sources: Basic Topologies and Purposes

Abstract

The paper deals with the power supply systems for MicroGrid based on multilevel inverters. An analysis of promising voltage inverter topologies for use in MicroGrid power systems with renewable energy sources has been conducted. The development of power supply systems with PV cells using multilevel inverters is promising. An analysis of the operation of single-level inverters with impedance and quasi-impedance links in the input circuit showed that these devices are capable of meeting the specific requirements for inverters used in systems with RES. Multilevel topology enables work at higher frequencies and a larger factor of input voltage use. The use of an impedance (Z-inverter) or quasi-impedance link (qZ-inverter) additionally satisfies the need to ensure the continuity of the inverter's input voltage. Multilevel voltage inverters with the ability to increase the amplitude of the inverter's input voltage are a promising direction for the development of inverters for use in systems using solar panels as renewable power sources.
