Abstract
Urban-rural interrelationship and its role in promoting sustainable development and a good environment was the theme of the FIG regional conference held in Morocco in December 2003 and reported in the FIG pages of this issue of GIM International. It is the focus for all surveyors and other stakeholders as they go about their diverse tasks in development planning and resource management. The author analyses the background, not so much from a technical but more from a political perspective.
