Abstract
An experiment to investigate the 58Ni+58Ni reaction at E/A = 30 MeV was performed at the Superconducting Cyclotron of the INFN Laboratorio Nazionale del Sud. In peripheral collisions massive fragments (4 < Z < 12) emission from neck-like structures joining projectile-like and target-like residues has been observed in coincidence with other reaction products. Their emission patterns exhibit features consistent with dynamical fragmentation of a neck zone between the interacting nuclei. In addition, at the same time the projectile-like and target-like residues are subject to statistical decay.
