Abstract
Post-masking patterns of 300 Hz wideband of noise centered at 8 kHz with 50 db SPL, of a pure tone at 8. 75 kHz with 70 db SPL and of a combination of noise plus tone are determined at delay-times of 0 to 100 ms. Patterns for tone plus noise resemble patterns for the tone alone. In a region around 8 kHz the combination of tone plus noise elicits considerable lower (15 db) post-masked thresholds than the noise alone.
