Abstract
We prepared clean Si surfaces at low temperatures by laser annealing. Submonolayers of several species of atoms were deposited onto these surfaces. We found that in some cases the reflection of phonon pulses was strongly affected with only 0. 2 monolayers. This effect coincided with the onset of the anomalously large Kapitza transmission.
