Interaction energy of a quantum oscillator in a radiation field

Abstract

Exact results are derived by functional integration methods for a recently discussed model of a harmonically bound electron coupled to a radiation field. In particular, a renormalization independent expression of the interaction energy is computed. The relation to previously obtained results is discussed.
