Abstract

Besides direct and indirect cerebral lesions, subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH) may cause severe alterations of metabolism as well as cardiac, pulmonary and other medical complications. Specialized intensive care is required to improve neurological outcome and overall survival. This chapter covers monitoring of patients suffering from SAH in the intensive care unit (ICU). Prudent observation and evaluation of these parameters helps to manage the course of disease.
