Abstract
The consideration of all impacts during the life cycle of a bridge is essential for sustainability analyses. For this purpose maintenance scenarios based on of renewal cycles for all components of a bridge - i. e. bearings, expansion joints, caps, etc. - have to be defined. In this article three maintenance strategies for Germany are derived from an empirical database. This database is analyzed to develop input parameters which can be used for sustainability analyses. Concluding, two strategies are applied to a reference bridge as integral crossing of a motorway and evaluated by using the method of life cycle assessment, as one part of sustainability analyses.
