Influence of a 45° corner-reflector on the radiation pattern of a planar leaky-wave antenna

Abstract

A new type of a planar reflector antenna based on a substrate-superstrate configuration is presented. A multi-layer leaky-wave antenna is terminated on one side by a perfect electric conductor acting as a reflector. The calculation of the radiation pattern of this planar antenna is performed using a spectral-domain approach. The SDA is combined with image-theory to take into account the effects of a 45° corner-reflector. A comparison of simulated and measured results is shown and indicates the validity of the presented theory.
