Abstract
Evidence based medicine and cost effectiveness are main clinical topics of present days. Thus strategies of quality management are decisive to fulfill these demands. In our department we documented patients with community acquired pneumonia within one year. After 6 month we screened and improved our therapeutic strategies according to common accepted infectious disease management guidelines. After one year we compared therapeutic outcome and cost efficacy in both groups. We saw a similar therapeutic outcome in contrast to a reduction of costs and time of stay in hospital. Computer guided quality management seems to be of important use in evaluating treatment strategies und consequent changing of costs. Concerning DRG this regiment could be of rising interest in all medical fields.
