Abstract

Rapid technological progress, gradual demographic change in a globalized economy with intense competition, skill shortages and depletion of environmental resources are challenges that will reshape the German production sector over the next decade. Therefore, production workers must develop the competencies to adapt and regularly update their skills to manage changes effectively. In this context, the paradigm of Industry 5.0 (I5.0) assumes an increasingly important role, as it builds on the foundation of previous industrial revolutions while integrating elements from Lean Production and Industry 4.0. However, I5.0 distinguishes itself by emphasizing human-centricity, resilience, and sustainability. Implementing these aspects of the I5.0 paradigm involves several obstacles. Production methods must be adapted, and workers retrained so that they can continuously develop their skills to meet the demands of increasingly complex technologies. Therefore, this contribution presents a comprehensive I5.0 competence model that considers all aspects of I5.0 and its associated elements, which is tailored to the production areas of manufacturing, assembly, logistics, and maintenance.
