Abstract

This paper presents two different structures for energy generation from an induction machine to supply dc and ac isolated loads. The paper presents different control strategies for each system and discusses problems such as the use of a battery set and a variable load to take care of an eventual variation of the energy generated. Some of the strategies also optimize the mechanical power generated for the case in which a wind driven induction generator is used. Although the converter structures can be implemented with Six Switch Three Phase (SSTP) converters, Four-Switch Three-Phase (FSTP) converters are considered for reducing costs. Computer and experimental results demonstrate the feasibility of the systems proposed.
