Abstract

Objective. The reliability of the allergy screening via SXI - (inhalant allergens) and fx5-(food allergens) test should be verified in comparison to the single allergen detection by the use of the Pharmacia CAP-RAST. We also compared a new allergy test, the DPC-PolyCheck, for simultaneous detection of 20 different allergens, to the Pharmacia CAP-RAST. Methods: 90 sera from children aged 7 months to 17 years old have been analyzed. The allergy tests have been used and analyzed according to the manufacturers instructions. Results: In comparison to the single allergen detection through the CAP-RAST the SXI-test showed a sensitivity of 0,98 (KI 91,3 -100%) and a specificity of 1 (KI 87,7 -100%), the fx5 showed a sensitivity of 0,91 (KI 78,3 - 97,5%) and a specificity of 0,98 (KI 88,5 - 99,9%). The comparison between the DPC-PolyCheck and CAP-RAST did not show a satisfying agreement. Conclusions: For the exclusion of an allergy both screening tests, SXI and fx5, are well capable. The DPC-PolyCheck, in this form no more available, can not be recommended for the detection of sensitizations due to our results.
