Abstract
An original approach for flexible multibody dynamics is proposed, which combines the free–free formulation of elastic body deformation with an impulse-based representation of linear vibration. The resulting system of equations being remarkably simple, this impulse-based substructuring method is straightforward to implement. Simple applications of a flexible rotating beam submitted to various excitation inputs have been selected and developed so as to assess the accuracy of the proposed methodology.
