Abstract

Fuzzy logic is a powerful, and user-friendly tool for dealing with the complex problems of traffic responsive signal control in a straightforward and intuitive way without losing any of the desired features of the problems solution. This paper introduces the fundamental concepts of fuzzy logic and outlines the way in which fuzzy logic control system works. Also, the way in which a fuzzy logic traffic control system might help to overcome the problems which may be encountered in the attempt to combine the ability to deal with a number of non-linearly related inputs and ease the development and modification in a single traffic control system are explored.
