Abstract

The main requirements for transmissions are a high load carrying capacity, a low sound excitation behaviour and high efficiency, which becomes more and more important with the increasing environmental awareness. This paper emphasizes on the two aspects sound excitation and efficiency. The main reasons of sound excitation in a gear stage are shown. Recommendations to minimise excitations and reduce the losses in the gear mesh are given.
