Abstract

Two elements for improving computer aided design of dynamically excited structures are discussed. The first is an expert system to be applied for specification of quasi-static design loads which are to be used for preliminary design and the second are efficient redesign and quasi-optimization routines which can be applied once a mathematical model is established. For the expert system the essentials from the side of the domain field as well as user requirements are discussed. Preliminary experiences in constructing and applying such a system are reported. For the quasi-optimization routines different approaches which basically lead to linear or quadratic optimization problems in combination with efficient reanalysis methods are discussed.
