Abstract

Estimating and tracking the grid frequency is essential for power system applications like synchronization, control purposes and the determination of the rate of change of frequency. During this paper, two frequency estimation methods are analysed. In the first step, a simulation setup was used and then the results are validated in a laboratory setup regarding accuracy and performance of island grids with low inertia.
