Abstract

This work focuses on exploring the influence of different types of active voltage clamping circuits on the switching losses of medium voltage IGBTs. The study begins with a circuit simulation tool and off-the-shelf SPICE models of the IGBT and components of active voltage clamping circuitry. The analysis specifically examines active voltage clamping circuits applied to IGBT power switches. The use of SPICE models supplied by the manufacturers allows for greater adherence to the results obtained with the physical prototypes, and contributes to reducing the number of experimental tests carried out to define the final version of the circuit.
