Abstract
The development of immunoassays for environmental analysis, which are considered as a valuable supplement to existing and rapidly developing chromatographic techniques, is discussed. They have been considered as a valuable supplement as they have attractive features including high sensitivity and selectivity, rapid detection, and the possibility of analysis of difficult matrices without extensive pre-treatment. Environmental immunoassays are undergoing diversification, mainly in respect of binder, format, and detection principle. The main challenge is the development of robust and highly sensitive homogeneous assays based on the new detection principles and portable instruments.
