Abstract

"Hybrid structures" advantageously unite form-found membrane and elastically deformed members to a new type of structure. This combination allows for interesting designs of architectural membranes that increasingly come into focus of computer aided design, based on reliable structural analysis in an integrated approach. In this paper, necessary modifications to known procedures for reliable form-finding of these structures as well as the transition to follow-up structural analysis are presented. Arising difficulties are discussed as well as model and full scale examples.
