N2 - The purpose of this study was the identification of motion strategies for truck ingress and egress and the analysis of influencing factors. To shorten the development process, digital human models (DHM) are being used to simulate and assess human-machine-interfaces. Before being able to simulate a human motion with DHM, this movement needs to be well analyzed. For example, we analyzed which influencing factors lead to a change in motion. Therefore, this study considered the ingress and egress motion of 36 truck drivers into and out of two real vehicles, one with two steps, representing distribution transport, and one with three steps, representing long haul transport. The body height affected the choice of starting foot for the egress motion. This was the only impact factor that this study confirmed. Although no clear motion strategies, constantly used by every driver, could be determined, we identified frequently occurring general sequences of behavioral motion patterns for the ingress and egress motion.
