Abstract

On the basis of three case histories from the gynecological endocrinology outpatient clinic examples for risk factor situations are introduced and individually matching hormone therapy solutions presented. The first case describes a patient with marked perimenopausal symptoms and signs of estrogen dominance. Over 5 years the problems arising from the endogenous hyperstimulation induced during perimenopause. The second case report is on a 47-year-old patient with epilepsy and the question whether perimenopausal conditioned hormonal variations lead to more seizures. The third case depicts a 54-old-patient with Morbus Basedow. The distinct interactions between thyroid function and ovarian aging and hormone therapy are discussed.
